This role will support the delivery of the new Higher-Level Skills Match (HLSM) Plus project, funded by the Birmingham Enterprise Zone via Birmingham City Council, which will help local companies secure the skills they need to sustain economic growth by recruiting and retaining more local graduates.
We are delivering HLSM Plus as a partner to a project led by Birmingham City University. Other partners to the project are Aston University, and the University of Birmingham, with full endorsement from the Graduate Re-Tune programme and its delivery partners: Department for Work and Pensions’ (DWP) Birmingham and Solihull Jobcentre Plus District (JCP), and Prospects, the National Careers Service contractors for the West Midlands.
Working with a multi-institutional team, the Employer Engagement Lead will support businesses of all sizes, from micro businesses to large, global organisations, that are primarily based in the Birmingham Enterprise Zone. You will identify the skills they require to support business growth and source graduate level vacancies for the projects caseload of unemployed graduates. You will work closely with the Student Engagement Lead to assist the matching of graduates to job vacancies, and support the tracking of job retention and progression through effective account management. The Employer Engagement Lead will be responsible for coordinating a proactive approach to supporting business growth through graduate employment.
You will be educated to at least minimum level 3 or equivalent and have experience in business support, employer engagement or business development within a professional setting. You will have experience in organising employer events, B2B relationship management and/or business development, networking and maintaining effective links with employers. You will also have a good understanding of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and experience of actively ensuring that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
You will be based at the City Centre Campus in Birmingham and will need to travel to other locations when required.
This is a 20 hours per week, 2-year fixed term contract.
