JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), is a Deemed University located in Mysuru, Karnataka, India. It was established in the year 2008, with a founding mission to serve the needs of the community at large and envisions emerging as a unique institution in the Higher Education setting.

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research since its establishment has significantly strengthened its Teaching, Research and Service efforts to realize its vision and mission. Under the leadership and gracious Patronage and blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research; Honourable Pro Chancellor, Dr. B. Suresh, a noted multifaceted leader in the field of education in India; and Dr Surinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, an expert in healthcare regulations, JSS AHER has made great progress in grooming graduates, postgraduates and PhD researchers of great acumen by providing effective, value based education, giving importance to overall development of an individual through state-of-art facilities to make the learner a useful citizen to the country.
JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), located in Mysuru, India, stands as a beacon of excellence in health sciences and research-driven education. Established with a mission to integrate cutting-edge education with transformative research, JSS AHER has rapidly ascended in the competitive landscape of higher education. Over the past decade, it has emerged as a premier institution in India, recognized nationally and internationally for its contributions across various domains of education, research, and community outreach.

JSS AHER boasts a distinguished faculty comprising over 650 members who support the academic pursuits of approximately 4500 undergraduates, 3500 graduate students, and nearly 700 research scholars. This diverse academic community is spread across faculties specializing in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Life Sciences, Yoga, and Management Studies. Emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach, the university has aligned its programs with global standards and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, ensuring relevance and international competitiveness.

The university has published more than 12,500 publications, achieving impressive H-Indexes of 102 in Scopus and 89 in Web of Science. Notably, it holds twenty-six patents published and fifteen granted, with ongoing efforts to expand intellectual property through initiatives like the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) cell and Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship Development (CEED). National and international funding supports various research projects, including notable grants from DBT BUILDER, STUTI, and DST PURSE, reinforcing the university's commitment to innovation.

Integral to JSS AHER is the JSS Hospital, a flagship 1800-bedded tertiary care facility renowned for its clinical trials capabilities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital emerged as a pivotal center for vaccine trials, conducting eight trials and leading RNA RT-PCR testing in Mysore through its accredited COVID-19 laboratory. The hospital’s clinical expertise spans 37 specialties, complemented by academic departments in Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Cardiology, among others.

JSS AHER is dedicated to fostering global partnerships and enhancing its international footprint. With over 50 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed globally, including collaborations with prestigious institutions like La Trobe University (Australia) and NIH (USA), the university facilitates diverse academic exchanges and collaborative research.

Our mission includes developing inter-institutional research projects, promoting publications and patents, and nurturing values aligned with WHO, UN, and other global organizations. Through strategic alliances with industry partners, we aim to drive product development and commercialization while strengthening national and international research collaborations.

The University hosts eight Centres of Excellence, including specialized facilities like the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for Infectious Diseases. Equipped with state-of-the-art PCR technology and accredited by NABL, this lab plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and managing infectious diseases, supporting research endeavours, and enhancing public health outcomes.

Within JSS AHER, functional wings such as SPARKLE CINE (Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship), Entrepreneur Cell, IPR Cell, and Innovation Lab empower our community to explore innovative solutions. Our facilities include 3D Printing, Ideation Lab, and Drug Testing Laboratory (CADRAT), enabling cutting-edge research and development across various disciplines.

To enhance our research infrastructure, JSS AHER has established Centres of Excellence in fields like Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Medical Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Health Informatics, Maternal and Child Health, Health Technology, Chemotherapeutics, Biomedical Innovations, Nanomedicine, and Clinical Trials. These centres focus on tackling diverse health challenges through pioneering research, including biomarker characterization, drug resistance detection, genetics in non-communicable diseases, disease diagnosis protocols, environmental health assessments, and more.
